Thomas Forrest

Thomas Forrest (born 1747 in Philadelphia , Province of Pennsylvania , † March 20, 1825 in Germantown , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1819 and 1823 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives twice .

Career

Thomas Forrest attended public schools in his home country. Between 1776 and 1781 he took part in the War of Independence . He rose to lieutenant colonel. The sources do not provide any information about his activities in the following years. Politically, he became a member of the Federalist Party .

In the congressional elections of 1818 Forrest was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Adam Seybert on March 4, 1819 . Until March 3, 1821 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . During this time he was chairman of the then established Agriculture Committee. After the resignation of his successor William Milnor , Forrest was again elected as his successor to Congress, where he ended the current legislative period between October 8, 1822 and March 3, 1823. In 1822 he was not re-elected. He died on March 20, 1825 in Germantown , now part of Philadelphia.
