William Milnor

William Milnor (born June 26, 1769 in Philadelphia , Province of Pennsylvania , †  December 13, 1848 in Burlington , New Jersey ) was an American politician . Between 1807 and 1822 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives several times .

Career

William Milnor enjoyed an academic education and then worked in Philadelphia in commerce. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Federalist Party . In the congressional election of 1806 he was elected as a candidate for his party in the second constituency of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Frederick Conrad on March 4, 1807 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1811 . From 1809 to 1811 he was chairman of the Committee on Accounts .

Between 1815 and 1817 and again from 1821 to 1822 Milnor represented the first district of his state in Congress. On May 8, 1822, he resigned from his mandate. He was mayor of Philadelphia in 1829 and 1830. He died in Burlington on December 13, 1848.
