Thomas Gailer (born May 22, 1981 in Dachau ) is a German volleyball player and coach.

Career as a player

In the 1999/2000 season Tom Gailer was part of the squad of the second division team of SV Lohhof for the first time . After relegation in the same season, Gailer was active in lower-class leagues for SVL in the following years, before he helped to secure the relegation of the first team in 2003/04, which was now back in the second Bundesliga South. In the following years, the Dachau native concentrated primarily on his tasks as a coach, but also played for SC Freising in the Bayernliga Süd from 2008 to 2010 and supported the men of SV Lohhof in the Regionalliga Südost in the 2010/11 season. In the 2012/13 season Gailer moved back to SC Freising in the Bayernliga, where he was promoted as a Libero without losing a game. In the following season, a third place in the Regionalliga Südost followed, which meant promotion to the third division due to a waiver of the second-placed team .

Career as a coach

In 2006 Tom Gailer took over the men's team at MTV Munich in the Regionalliga Südost. In 2007 he was promoted to the second Bundesliga. After a year, however, the team had to start again in the third division. Gailer moved to Unterschleißheim in 2008 and in the same season achieved promotion to the second Bundesliga South with the second SVL women's team. The team managed to qualify for the next season with its promotion coach, but was relegated to the Regionalliga Südost due to the relegation of the first team. Tom Gailer, who also worked as manager and press attendant at SV Lohhof, also looked after the second women's team during the 2010/11 season and reached third place in the final table with the Unterschleißheim team. After the 2011/12 season, Gailer paused two seasons from coaching. From July 2014 he was back on the sidelines as coach of SC Freising in the third division east .

Gailer has been training the regional league team TSV Mühldorf since 2016 .
