Thomas Hartmann-Wendels

Thomas Hartmann-Wendels (born March 23, 1957 in Düsseldorf ) is a German economist .

Hartmann-Wendels studied business administration at the University of Cologne and worked at the seminar for finance under Herbert Hax . He received his doctorate in 1985 with a dissertation on “ dividend policy with asymmetrical information distribution”; In 1990 he completed his habilitation, also in Cologne with a habilitation thesis on " Accounting for companies and the capital market from an information-economic perspective". In the same year he followed a call to RWTH Aachen .

In 1998 Hartmann-Wendels returned to Cologne, where he has since led the seminar for general business administration and banking as well as the research institute for leasing . There he is also Managing Director of the Institute for Banking Economics and Banking Law.
