Thomas Hering (born July 4, 1966 in Stuttgart ) is a former German basketball Bundesliga player. He belonged to the squad of the Bundesliga club SV Möhringen and SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg as well as the team of Yuba College. After studying at Yuba College in California (business informatics) and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (human medicine), Hering worked as the managing director of a management consultancy.

Hering started his career in 1980 with the Stuttgart club SV Möhringen. There succeeded in the 1983/84 season promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga group south. At the end of the season he moved to the then second division club SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg and rose with this team in the following season 1985/86 in the 1st basketball league . After completing the 1986/87 season, Hering switched to studying at Yuba College, where he strengthened the basketball team as a service provider and competed in the 800-meter run (PB: 1:56:65 min) for the athletics team .

Thomas Hering is Christina Hering's father and continues to be active in recreational sports.
