Thomas Horn (born February 6, 1960 in Seligenstadt , CDU) has been the director of the FrankfurtRheinMain regional association since March 1, 2018

Life

Horn completed an apprenticeship as a judicial clerk at Offenbach District Court from 1976 to 1978 . He worked in this profession from 1978 to 1982 at the Seligenstadt District Court . During this time, in addition to his work, he attended the evening grammar school in Offenbach am Main from 1979 to 1982 and made up his Abitur . Horn then studied law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 1982 to 1987 . In 1987 he passed the first state examination in law . Three years later, in 1990, the second state examination followed . He gained his first experiences in local government from 1985 to 1990 as an honorary Associate in Mainhausen.

Horn was from 1991 to 1992 as assessor and head of the Bonn Bundestag office of the former Federal Minister. D. Jürgen Warnke . From 1992 to 1995 he was a member of the board of directors at the regional employment office in Northern Bavaria, Infrastructure department, in Nuremberg .

From June 1, 1995 to June 30, 2015, Horn was mayor of the city of Kelkheim (Taunus) . He was elected four times in total, in December 1994 with 58.1 percent, in November 1997 with 71.5 percent, in June 2003 with 69 percent and in June 2009 with 58.8 percent of the valid votes cast. During his 20-year term in office, the new city center of Kelkheim was developed and completed and the “Rhein-Main-Therme” project was implemented together with the city of Hofheim. During this time, Horn was also chairman of the supervisory board of the municipal development company and managing director of Rettershof GmbH.

In 2015, the association chamber of the FrankfurtRheinMain regional association elected him full-time alderman with 66 out of 84 votes cast, and in 2018 he was elected association director by the chamber with 84 out of 91 votes cast.

Horn has been a member of the district council of the Main-Taunus district and the regional assembly of South Hesse since 1997 . He is also chairman of the board of the FrankfurtRheinMain-Verein for promoting location development.

Horn is married. In 1978 he was Hessen champion in the pentathlon .
