Thomas Jörg Frank (born February 29, 1972 ) is a German conductor , organist and church musician .

life and career

Thomas J. Frank was born in Wiesbaden and attended the old-language Dilthey-Gymnasium in Wiesbaden. He received his first piano lessons at the Wiesbaden Conservatory with Karlheinz Lindenau, and his first organ lessons (from the age of 12) with Gustav Sieber. After graduating from high school, he completed community service in the Ev. Deanery Wiesbaden. Then studied at the State University of Music in Würzburg as a conductor with the degrees Diplom Kapellmeister and Diplom A church musician with Günther Kaunzinger, Jörg Straube, Zsolt Gárdonyi, Hermann Dechant and Peter Falk . This was followed by postgraduate studies with completion of the soloist diploma in orchestral conducting, which he completed in 2002. He passed the examination to become a state-certified music teacher with a major in organ. He then studied musicology with Reinhard Wiesend at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and received his doctorate in philosophy in 2010 . The dissertation was published under the title Organ Building Between Organ Movement and French Organ Romanticism .

Since 1995 he has been choirmaster at the Marktkirche ("Nassauischer Landesdom") in Wiesbaden. From 1990 to 2006 he worked as a part-time church musician at the Stephanuskirche in Wiesbaden. From 2004 to 2010 he was the Kurhaus organist in the Hessian state capital. Frank has given concerts in Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA. In Wiesbaden, the state capital, he founded various choir projects that have survived to the present day. Frank has recorded CDs of organ music and has worked on radio and television productions. In 2010 he took over the office of market church cantor at the Protestant main church of the Hessian state capital from Hans Uwe Hielscher . For several years he has also appeared as a composer of works for organ, carillon, orchestra and choir. Since 2012 he has been the artistic director of the big benefit concert "they shine a light", the largest benefit campaign of a German daily newspaper ("Wiesbadener Kurier").
