Thomas J. Kiernan
Thomas Joseph Kiernan (* 1897 , † 1967 in Dublin ) was an Irish diplomat .
During his diplomatic career he was chargé d' affaires at the Holy See from 1941 to 1946 . Postings in Australia and West Germany followed . From 1956 to 1960 Kiernan was ambassador to Canada . He was then Ambassador to the United States from 1961 to 1964 .
Kiernan was married to the Irish singer Delia Murphy (1902–1971) since 1924 . The marriage had four children. One of them is the Irish historian and writer Colm Kiernan (1931-2010).
