Thomas Johannes Hauck

Thomas Johannes Hauck (born February 27, 1958 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German writer , playwright, designer , actor, filmmaker and visual artist.

Life

Thomas J. Hauck works as a (theater) director and actor, curator, visual artist (“Das Archiv” with Sabina Kaeser) and above all as a children's writer and screenwriter.

Hauck attended the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences with a degree in designer and the Haller Drama School in Heidelberg. He studied with Rick Kamp (Comedy), Philip Gaulier (Buffon) and Tadashi Endo and took part in script workshops, for example with Alfred Behrens . He has received several grants, such as the 1995 writer's grant for children's theater authors in Wolfenbüttel, 2004 a residency at the Baltic Center for Writers and Translators in Visby , 2006 as Artist in Residence in Krems and 2007 as Bridgeguard in Štúrovo . In 2012 he was town clerk in Hausach. He was also the winner of the “Günter Bruno Fuchs Literature Prize” 2007. Under his artistic direction, the u. a. from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Bundesverband Jugend und Film e. V. and the initiative “Kultur macht stark” (“Shards bring luck”) (a film by children, with children, for children), which was funded by the initiative “Kultur macht stark” and was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Youth Film Prize 2014 for “Best Ensemble Performance”.

In 2000, Hauck founded the performance and installation duo “Das Archiv” together with Sabina Kaeser . In recent years, Hauck has made a name for himself as the author of numerous books for children and young people. His film stories (screenwriter and / or director) have been shown at several festivals. Thomas J. Hauck is a sought-after lecturer for writing seminars and theater workshops at youth schools, colleges of education and teacher training centers. He regularly gives readings in schools, libraries, theaters and galleries in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Netherlands. Hauck also had several art exhibitions and published in periodicals, such as etchings in the annual journal for literature and art shell heaps . Two of his texts were filmed by Aviva Barkhourdarian.
