Thomas John McDonnell

Thomas John McDonnell (born August 18, 1894 in New York City , United States , † February 25, 1961 ) was Coadjutor Bishop of Wheeling .

Life

Thomas John McDonnell received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of New York on September 20, 1919 .

On July 2, 1947, Pope Pius XII appointed him . as titular bishop of Sela and auxiliary bishop in New York. The Archbishop of New York, Francis Joseph Cardinal Spellman , donated him episcopal ordination on September 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Boston , Richard James Cushing , and that of the Coadjutor Bishop of New York, James Francis McIntyre .

On May 7, 1951 Pope Pius XII appointed him. to Coadjutor Bishop von Wheeling . In this office he died in 1961. His final resting place was in the burial chapel of the Bishops of Wheeling at Mt. Calvary Cemetery .
