Thomas Jung (born January 12, 1958 in Hagen ) is a former German national basketball player .

career

In 1975, Thomas Jung took part in the German national cadet team at the European championship for this age group in Greece. Also in 1975 he played two A internationals for the FRG. In 1976, Jung took part with the German national junior team at the European championships for this age group in Spain . From July 1976 to June 1978 he was a soldier in the sports company of the Bundeswehr in Warendorf . From 1978 to 1984 he studied in Heidelberg for the teaching profession .

Jung was in the Bundesliga squad of SSV Hagen from 1975 to 1977 . From 1978 the winger strengthened the Bundesliga club USC Heidelberg . In 1980 he was relegated with the USC from the Bundesliga and in 1981 again from the 2nd Bundesliga to the top division. He then switched to KuSG Leimen , where he also worked as a trainer. Later, Jung was still active as a player and coach for the clubs TSV Speyer (from 1982), TSG Maxdorf and RSG Ludwigshafen. Professionally, he worked as a high school teacher until summer 2019.
