Thomas Knak (born February 7, 1973 ) is a Danish musician, composer and label owner.

Career

Together with his friends Jesper Skaaning (Acustic) and Anders Remmer (Dub Tractor), Knak founded the group Future 3 , of which three albums and two EPs were released on April Records between 1995 and 2001. Also from 1995 he produced together with Morten Remmer as James Bong .

Knak first appeared solo in 1997 when his 1/3 & 1/2 EP was released on April Records.

In 1999, the opiate debut album Objects For An Ideal Home was released on April Records. In the same year he founded his own label Hobby Industries, on which, in addition to his own opiate publications, works by Goodiepal , Dub Tractor , Spinform and other artists appeared.

Knak then produced a few pieces for the 2001 Björk album Vespertine, alongside Damian Taylor , Guy Sigsworth , Jake Davies , Marius de Vries , Matmos , Matthew Herbert and Valgeir Sigurdsson .

In 2000 Knak founded the Future 3 successor project System with Skaaning and Remmer . The first album System was released in 2002 on the ~ scape label operated by Stefan Betke .

From 2003 Knak also worked as a composer of film and television soundtracks. Among other things, he composed music for the award-winning film Reconstruction .

Together with Carsten Nicolai , Knak released the album 2nd on Hobby Industries under the name Opto .

Under the band name People Press Play , an album of the same name was released on Morr Music in 2007 , which Knak, Skaaning and Remmer recorded with singer Sara Savery.

In 2010, after a four-year break, two new singles appeared on Knak's label Hobby Industries . Also in 2010 the second System album B was released on Rump Recordings.
