Thomas Mayer (born February 6, 1984 in Schwabmünchen ) is a German soccer player . He has been playing for ASV Neumarkt since summer 2011 .

Career

Mayer played for FC Augsburg until 2004. Then he moved to the Bavarian league club TSV Aindling. After three years, the defender went to the regional league for SV Wacker Burghausen. In August 2007 he missed a penalty in a penalty shootout against FC Bayern Munich, which led to the Burghauser being eliminated from the cup. In September of that year, Mayer suffered a serious injury, after which he had to take a longer break. In 2009 he went to SSV Reutlingen. There, his expiring contract was not extended. Mayer was without a club until February 2011 before he played at TSV Gersthofen. For the 2011/12 season, Mayer moved to ASV Neumarkt.

During his time in Reutlingen, Mayer successfully completed a distance learning course to become a sports specialist .
