Thomas Meyer-Hermann (* 1956 in Cologne ) is a German animation film producer and director . He is the founder of the "Film Bilder" studio.

Life

From 1977 to 1984 Meyer-Hermann studied graphic design at the Stuttgart Art Academy under Professors Peter Grau and Albrecht Ade . During his studies and in the years thereafter, he made six animated short films that were awarded several festival prizes.

In 1985 he began his academic career as a lecturer for animated film at the Stuttgart Art Academy. This was later followed by teaching positions, guest seminars and workshops at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin , the University of Television and Film Munich , the Wizo Academy in Haifa, the Ngee-Ann-Polytechnic in Singapore, the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane, the Netherlands Institute for Animation Film in Tilburg and the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . Meyer-Hermann has been Professor of Animated Film at the Kassel Art College since 2000 . As part of his teaching activities, he has been designing and organizing the Kassel Spielalon , the festival of author's games, since 2011 .

Since 1989 he has worked as managing director, producer and director in the "Film Bilder" studio in Stuttgart. There animated films are made using all animation techniques. The studio production includes both free artistic short films and animated commissioned works. The short films won more than 130 awards at international festivals. Meyer-Hermann cooperated with renowned animation artists such as Angela Steffen, Gil Alkabetz, Andreas Hykade , Daniel Nocke and Phil Mulloy. In parallel to the short films, animated music videos were made, including Ten Little Jägermeisters for the band Die Toten Hosen and Bla Bla Bla for Gigi D'Agostino , title sequences for television and cinema, including for the feature film Run Lola Run, and commercials. From 2003 to 2012 Thomas Meyer-Hermann produced 52 episodes of the series Tom and the strawberry jam bread with honey .
