Thomas Mitew (born August 29, 1968 ) is a former German ice hockey player who played in the GDR Oberliga and later in the Bundesliga and German ice hockey league for SC Dynamo Berlin and its successor club Eisbären Berlin .
Career
Mitew started ice hockey in 1977 at what was then SC Dynamo Berlin . He went through all stations of the competitive sports system of the GDR. Mitew attended the Berlin sports school and passed his Abitur there. In 1988 he was appointed to the men's team at SC Dynamo Berlin and played with it at the highest European level until 1990. With the conversion of the ice hockey department of SC Dynamo Berlin into the subsequent EHC Dynamo Berlin and the resulting licensed player status, the attacker played as a professional ice hockey player in the Bundesliga and the German ice hockey league until 1995 , with the Berliners playing as "polar bears" from 1992 onwards. In 1997 he suffered a serious sports accident that threatened to end his sports career. However, Mitew managed to return to the ice and ended his career in 1998 with the then second division GEC Nordhorn .
After his sports career, Thomas Mitew studied business administration with a focus on sports management and sports marketing. In 2004 he published his diploma thesis entitled “Ticketing as a central marketing strategy for a multifunctional arena”. Today Mitew is an independent consultant and broker with its own sports agency and works in parallel in sports marketing.
International
With the German national ice hockey team , Thomas Mitew took part in the Nissan Cup in 1990.
