Thomas Poreski

Thomas Poreski (born  October 21, 1963 in Tübingen ) is a state politician for the Greens . He has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg since 2011 and represents the state electoral district of Reutlingen there .

Life and work

Poreski attended the Stiftgymnasium in Sindelfingen , where he passed the Abitur, then he did his community service at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Schule for children with mental disabilities in Böblingen. He then studied social work in Reutlingen and pedagogy in Tübingen. Poreski was managing director of Wohnen plus des Mariaberg eV until his election to the state parliament

Thomas Poreski has a daughter and a son.

Political party

Thomas Poreski has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 1984 . Over the years he has held various offices at federal, state and district levels. He was on the district executive of the Greens in Böblingen, where he was the organizer of the state elections in 1988 . Then he moved to the district board of the Greens in Reutlingen. He was the spokesman and cashier of the state party's "School" working group , where he was also elected editor of the members' magazine " Grüne Blätter " between 1988 and 2005 . Poreski's political focus is social policy. He is co-author of a “green basic income”, a concept for an unconditional basic income .

MP

For the 2005 federal election he ran as a direct candidate in the Reutlingen constituency . His position on the list (18th place) was not enough to enter the Bundestag . In 2011 he ran for the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. He achieved 25.6% of the votes in the Reutlingen constituency 60 and thus received more votes than the SPD top candidate Nils Schmid . For the Greens in Reutlingen it was by far the best election result. They received the second most votes. In the state elections in 2016, Poreski achieved the best result with 31.2% of the votes and entered the state parliament again.

In the state parliament he is a full member of the committee for social affairs and integration as well as the committee for economy, labor and housing. Poreski is a spokesperson for social policy, youth and inclusion and a spokesperson for technology policy. He is also chairman of the social and integration working group. He was unanimously elected for all offices and functions.

Poreski was elected a member of the 15th Federal Assembly on March 1, 2012 .
