Thomas Pupp (born February 23, 1962 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), lawyer and communications consultant. From 2012 to 2013 he was regional councilor in the regional government of Platter I and from 2013 to 2018 a member of the Tyrolean parliament .

education and profession

Pupp attended elementary school between 1968 and 1972 and then graduated from Reitmann grammar school in Innsbruck from 1972. In 1980 he passed the Matura there. He began studying law in 1981 . In 1987 he completed his studies with the academic degree Mag . As a result, Pupp completed his court year and then worked in the Girozentrale Vienna and as head of the marketing department at the Tyrolean daily newspaper in Innsbruck. Pupp then decided to go into business for himself and founded the advertising agency Zimmermann und Pupp. He has been a communications consultant here since 1996.

Politics and functions

In addition to his job, Pupp supported Norbert Pleifer in his Volksgarten project and was Josef Wolf's partner in organizing the political film festival in the Leokino. He was also involved as the initiator of the street newspaper 20er. He learned to ski with the Tyrolean Friends of Nature and became its chairman in 2001. After the previous SPÖ Provincial Councilor Hannes Gschwentner withdrew from the Tyrolean provincial government , Pupp was elected Gschwentner's successor at the beginning of August 2012 with 22 of 27 votes in the provincial board. When he was elected to the regional council on October 3, 2012, he received 24 votes in the Tyrolean state parliament, ten members voted against his election as regional councilor, one vote remained invalid. Pupp, who had not held a party office until then, but had been a member of the SPÖ party since the late 1990s, subsequently took over the departments of housing subsidies, the environment, nature conservation and sport in the Tyrolean state government. Due to the defeat of the SPÖ in the state elections in 2013 and the result of a coalition between the ÖVP and the Greens, Pupp lost his function as regional councilor on May 24, 2013. On this date he changed to the Tyrolean state parliament as a member of parliament. He was area spokesman for legal affairs, school, education, business, tourism, sport, housing, construction, energy, the environment, nature conservation, art and culture within the SPÖ state parliament club.

Private

Pupp grew up in the Olympic Village district of Innsbruck . He is married and has two children.
