Thomas Rickman (also Tom Rickman ) (* February 8, 1940 - September 3, 2018 ) was an American screenwriter and film director .

He was best known for films such as To Head and Collars (1978), Nashville Lady (1980) and Tuesdays at Morrie (1999).

For Nashville Lady he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Adapted Screenplay in 1981.
