Thomas Schnelle (born December 15, 1967 in Erkelenz - Lövenich ) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU).

Life

After graduating from high school in Hückelhoven, Schnelle did military service with the then Missile Squadron II in Geilenkirchen. He entered the middle police service, which was followed by a degree in administration. Before he started working as a member of the state parliament, Schnelle worked as a chief detective in the Mönchengladbach police force.

Schnell joined the CDU in 1995 and was elected to the Hückelhoven City Council in 1999. Since 2004 he has been deputy parliamentary group chairman and chairman of the CDU city association Hückelhoven. He is also a member of the district and district executive boards of the CDU. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 , he entered the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia as a direct candidate for the Heinsberg II state electoral district . As a member of the state parliament, a preferred topic for fast things is internal security . Since joining the state parliament, Schnelle has been a member of the interior committee, deputy chairman of the petitions committee and deputy chairman of the mining safety sub-committee. He is also part of the parliamentary committees of inquiry I (Amri case) and III (Kleve). In addition to these mandate-related tasks, Thomas Schnelle sits on the advisory board of the Heinsberg correctional facility and on the Heinsberg Caritas Council. He is also part of the CDU parliamentary group in the city council of Hückelhoven.

Others

In addition to his local political work, he is also the chairman of the Kleingladbach interest group. He is also active in the Rifle Society and in the Catholic parish.
