Thomas M. Siebel (born November 20, 1952 in Chicago , Illinois ) is the founder and former main shareholder of Siebel Systems (1993; IPO 1996). Siebel is a billionaire and one of the richest and most prominent entrepreneurs in the United States .

Prior to founding Siebel Systems, Siebel was the chief executive officer of Gain Technology , a multimedia software company that merged with Sybase in December 1992 . From 1984 to 1990 he was a manager in various senior positions at Oracle . Siebel is a member of the Board of Advisors of the University of Illinois College of Engineering . He is a board member of the Montana Historical Society .
