Thomas Stamnitz
Thomas Stamnitz (born August 8, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German saxophonist , drummer , composer and arranger .
Life
Thomas Stamnitz studied saxophone, piano, drums, composition and arrangement at the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts , the Frankfurt Music Workshop, in Montpellier and Antibes , Juan-les-Pins (France).
He graduated from the Jazz Masterclasses at the Jazz Festival Montreux (Switzerland) and played with Randy Brecker , John Abercrombie , Robben Ford , John Miles . Since 1986 he has toured Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, and played in radio and. TV productions for Hessischer Rundfunk and WDR in Cologne. Stamnitz received 1st place at the Pinneberg Jazz Festival and the soloist competition of Deutsche Bank Frankfurt a. M. as the best alto saxophonist.
He is the saxophonist with the Groovin 'Galaband Frankfurt and founded the formation “Savoir Vivre” together with the singer Niki Aramondi under the pseudonym “Tommi Lens”. His sound installation “Jazz in Space - Space in Jazz” attracted particular attention, with his own composition “Infinity” being particularly successful in several multimedia presentations in Hamburg, Berlin and Frankfurt. Since 2005 he has increasingly turned to composing for saxophone, slope and voice. His music moves between jazz, late romantic classical music, folkloric influences and elements of progressive pop, where he presents hang and saxophone live. Stamnitz lives in Freiburg im Breisgau .
