Thomas de Nocker (* 3. June 1982 in Lippstadt as Thomas Suermann ) is a German professor of business administration and Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

From 2002 to 2003 De Nocker did a voluntary service as a "temporary missionary" in Mthatha ( South Africa ). He then studied Catholic theology, mathematics and geography in Münster and Madrid from 2003 to 2008 . During his studies, he received a scholarship from the German Business Foundation's study funding agency . From 2008 to 2009 he was the project manager of the educational sailing project "Highseas Highschool" on a trip to the Caribbean . From 2009 to 2010 he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Mission Studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University (WWU). In 2011 he obtained a doctorate in theology at the University of Münster in the subject of pastoral theology with a thesis on "The wise men from the economic region ?: Analysis of the cooperation between Catholic dioceses and external business strategy consultations". The work, which was evaluated with summa cum laude , was awarded the Paul Nordhues Caritas Prize in 2013 .

After completing a Master of Business Administration and working as a management consultant , de Nocker has been Professor of General Business Administration , in particular strategic management and sustainability, at the FOM University of Economics and Management since 2015 . He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Church Management at Villanova University in Philadelphia (USA) and a freelancer at the Institute for Social Strategy. His research focus is on questions of church management. In addition to his work as a scientist, he is also the managing director of the consulting institute 2denare .
