Thomas Geoffrey Charles Michael Taylour, 6th Marquess of Headfort (born January 20, 1932 - October 21, 2005 ) was an Irish - British peer and politician .

Life

He was the son of Terence Taylour, 5th Marquess of Headfort and Elise Florence Tucker. As his apparently marriage , he carried the courtesy title Earl of Bective since 1943 .

He was educated at the Stowe School in Buckinghamshire . He did military service and became a lieutenant in the Life Guards in 1950 . He went through pilot training and was accepted as an Acting Pilot Officer in the RAFVR ( Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve ) in 1952 . He studied at Christ's College of Cambridge University , where he in 1955 the completion of a Bachelor of Arts and a 1959 Master of Arts acquired and in 1960 approved as a real estate agent. He worked as a civilian pilot and in the international sales department of an aircraft manufacturer.

When his father died on October 24, 1960, he inherited his lands in Ireland and his nobility titles as 6th Marquess of Headfort , 7th Earl of Bective , 7th Viscount Headfort , 7th Baron Headfort , 5th Baron Kenlis and 9th Baronet of Kells. With the title Baron Kenlis a seat in the British House of Lords was connected. He was also interested in Irish politics and ran unsuccessfully for the Irish House of Lords ( Seanad Éireann ).

As a result of the divorce from his first wife in 1969, he had to sell his family seat Headfort House near Kells in County Meath, Ireland, as well as the major part of his land. He then moved to Hong Kong and finally to the Philippines , where he married his second wife in 1972.

In 1987 he gave his last speech in the British Parliament in which he paid tribute to the achievements of Alcoholics Anonymous . Under the House of Lords Act 1999 , he formally lost his UK parliamentary seat in November 1999.

He died in 2005 at the age of 73 and was buried in Manila . His son inherited his title of nobility.

Marriages and offspring

He was married twice. His first marriage was in 1958 with the Hon. Elizabeth Nall-Cain (1938-2017), daughter of Arthur Nall-Cain, 2nd Baron Brocket . The marriage ended in divorce in 1969. In 1972 he married Virginia Nable in his second marriage. From his first marriage he had three children:
