Thomas Vonn (born December 3, 1975 in Newburgh , Orange County , New York ) is a retired American ski racer . He specialized in the giant slalom and Super-G disciplines. From 2007 to 2013 he was married to the ski racer Lindsey Vonn (* 1984).

biography

Vonn won the giant slalom classification of the Nor-Am Cup in the 1998/99 and 1999/2000 seasons . In the Ski World Cup , he competed in a total of 55 races in the giant slalom and Super-G disciplines between 1998 and 2004 , but never made it to the top of the world. He reached the points in 13 races, the best placing was a 13th place on December 8, 2002 at the Super-G in Beaver Creek (Colorado). His most successful season was the winter of 2001/02, when he qualified for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , where he finished ninth in the Super-G. One month after the end of the games, he became the American giant slalom champion. He competed in the last World Cup races in December 2003, until March 2005 he competed in FIS races , in the European Cup and in the Nor-Am Cup.

On September 29, 2007, he married his longtime girlfriend, ski racer Lindsey Vonn, in Deer Valley . Until the end of 2011 he was part of her supervisory staff. The couple separated in late 2011 and divorced in early 2013.
