Thomas Wilhelmi (sports teacher)

Thomas Wilhelmi (born May 11, 1967 in Hilden ) is a German certified sports teacher . He has been working as a fitness and rehab trainer at FC Bayern Munich since February 2007 .

Professional background

After seven years of work in the Simsseeklinik Bad Endorf in the field of sports rehabilitation, Thomas Wilhelmi switched to 1. FC Nürnberg in 2001 under head coach Klaus Augenthaler as a rehabilitation and conditioning trainer . When he was on leave on April 30, 2003, Thomas Wilhelmi met the same fate. He was also employed by Bayer 04 Leverkusen on May 13, 2003, together with Klaus Augenthaler , also here as a rehabilitation and fitness trainer. On September 16, 2005, the leave of absence took place here, again together with Klaus Augenthaler. Here, however, the professional paths between Augenthaler and Wilhelmi parted.

In 2006 Thomas Wilhelmi completed several internships with Mark Verstegen in his "Athlete's Performance" center in Phoenix / Arizona in the USA. Here he was able to acquire its sporty concept . Through Mark Verstegen, Thomas Wilhelmi met the physiotherapist of FC Bayern Munich and the German national soccer team Oliver Schmidtlein during the 2006 soccer World Cup . Thomas Wilhelmi came to FC Bayern Munich full-time through this in February 2007.

At the same time, he received an offer from Mark Verstegen to work for his company as a fitness trainer for the German U21 national team . In June 2007 he received the offer of a three-year contract from FC Bayern Munich. Since July 1, 2007 he has been working there as a fitness and rehab trainer. In order to be able to concentrate fully on the work at FC Bayern, Wilhelmi ended his work for the DFB.

Since the summer of 2007, Wilhelmi has been a member of the coaching staff at FC Bayern Munich, with a focus on rehabilitation after injuries and individual training for professionals.
