The Thompson Peaks comprise two mountain peaks in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Alexandra range, they rise up on the watershed between the upper section of Moody Glacier and Bingley Glacier .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1966 after blasting researcher Douglas C. Thompson, who as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program in 1963 at the McMurdo Station and 1965 at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station , the cosmic rays in Antarctica had studied.
