Life

Zelikov's father was a chemistry lecturer at the Imperial Moscow University of Technology . After attending secondary school (graduation in 1921), Zelikow studied at the Moscow Technical University (MWTU), graduating in 1928 as an engineer for rolling technology . As early as 1925, Zelikow worked as a designer in the steel project institute founded by Vladimir Jefimowitsch Grum-Grschimailo in Moscow in 1924 and in the hammer-and-sickle factory from 1927 . In 1930 he was sent to Germany to study for several months , where he especially studied rolling technology in the Krupp works . In 1932 he became head of a planning group at the Izhevsk plant in Izhevsk .

From 1935 Zelikow taught at universities. From 1938 he headed the chair for rolling and drawing at the Moscow Institute for Steel and Alloys .

During the German-Soviet War , Zelikow worked in the armaments industry on processes to accelerate production. In 1943 he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the Moscow Institute for Non-ferrous Metals and Gold . At the same time he was appointed professor . He has now become a group leader in the Central Research Institute for Mechanical Engineering . In 1945 he became a member of the CPSU .

In 1945 Zelikow became director of the Central Design Office (ZKB) for metallurgy and mechanical engineering that he had initiated . In 1949 he became a professor at the MWTU. In 1953 he was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR). In 1959 he became director of the all-union research and development institute for metallurgical engineering that he had initiated. He developed a rolling theory and methods for calculating rolling mills . Under his direction and with his participation, systems for rolling billets , for continuous tube rolling and welding and for punching were put into use. The continuous casting technology has been developed. In 1964 he was elected a real member of the AN-SSSR.

Zelikov was buried in Moscow's Kuzminki Cemetery. The All Union Research and Development Institute for Metallurgy Engineering was given Zelikov's name.
