Thor Salden (born November 28, 1997 in Schoten , Belgium ), publicly known as Thor! , is a former Belgian singer .
Career
Thor took part in the Belgian preliminary decision for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 and prevailed there with the song Een tocht door het donker ("A journey through the dark") in the semifinals and in the finals. At the Junior Eurovision Song Contest he finished 7th and thus achieved the third best result for Belgium in this competition. At the time of the preliminary decision, he was only eight years old, making him the youngest participant in the JESC. The following year , the minimum age for the competition was raised to ten years. The song Een tocht door het donker was released on October 13, 2006. The song reached number 1 on the official Flemish charts and earned Thor a gold record on January 30, 2007 . He is the youngest singer who has ever received this.
On November 24, 2007, the CD Sinterklaashits came out as a supplement to the Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad . On it are Christmas carols sung by Thor. In April 2008 he took part in the band project Ketnetpop, launched by the youth broadcaster Ketnet . Thor retired from the music business at the end of the same year.
