Thorsten Bach is a German urologist and university professor .

Life

Bach completed his school education in 1992 with the Abitur at the Johann-Rist-Gymnasium in Wedel . From 1994 to 2002 he studied medicine at the University of Hamburg , his doctoral thesis on "The importance of the GnRH test in unilateral varicocele testis in different degrees and with a defined testicular volume" was published in 2004 at the Medical Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich accepted. From September 2002 to January 2008, Bach worked in the urology department at the Asklepios Clinic in Hamburg-Barmbek  . He completed his habilitation in urology (title of the thesis: “Clinical establishment of a new minimally invasive laser method for the treatment of obstructive diseases of the lower male urinary tract”) at the Mannheim Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University . In 2012, Bach was awarded the "Wolfgang Mauermayer Prize" by the German Society for Urology . In the same year he received the “Best Reviewer Award” from the “Engineering and Urology Society”. He taught urology at the Urological University Clinic of the University Medical Center Mannheim , and at the Asklepios Clinic in Hamburg-Barmbek he was also a lecturer in urology. At the beginning of September 2014, he took up the post of chairman of the urological department at the Asklepios Clinic in Hamburg-Harburg . The main focus of his scientific work includes the therapy of urological tumors, endourology as well as kidney stone therapy and laser treatment. In mid-January 2020, Bach became head of urology at the Asklepios-Westklinikum in Hamburg-Rissen .
