Thorsten Hens

Thorsten Hens (born December 19, 1961 in Gevelsberg ) is a German economist . He is Professor of Economics at the Swiss Finance Institute and at the Institute for Banking and Finance (IBF) at the University of Zurich . In addition to his professorship in Switzerland, Thorsten Hens is Associate Professor of Finance at the Norwegian Business School in Bergen, Norway. He studied at the University of Bonn and at the DELTA in Paris, and was an assistant professor at Stanford University and Bielefeld University . His research areas include finance and evolutionary finance .

In the Handelsblatt Business Economist Ranking 2009 for the German-speaking region, Thorsten Hens was ranked 27th in terms of life's work. In his research on how investors make their decisions, Professor Hens uses psychology and human biology to explain the dynamics of the financial market. His consulting experience includes behavioral finance for private banking and evolutionary finance for asset management .
