Three Imaginary Boys is the debut album by the English band The Cure . It was released on Fiction Records in May 1979. In the USA and Australia the album was released under the title Boys Don't Cry .

history

The album was recorded in the fall of 1978 with producer Chris Parry. Originally, the Jimi Hendrix cover version Foxy Lady , sung by bassist Michael Dempsey , which was created during a sound check , should not be on the album. The label ultimately dictated the selection of songs as well as the artwork ; Since then, singer Robert Smith has insisted on maintaining creative control over all of the band's projects. The album consists of short songs, only a few of which exceed the three-minute mark.
