Thunderstone is a card game developed by Mike Elliott and released by Alderac Entertainment Group in 2009 . A German version has been available since 2010 and is published by Pegasus Spiele , to which there are now several extensions. The game won various awards.

Game equipment

Thunderstone is a fantasy- themed card game in which players assemble their own deck of cards while playing. The game mechanism is similar to the deck building of the Dominion card game , which was named Game of the Year in 2009 . The base game contains 580 cards with illustrations by Jason Engle depicting heroes, monsters, weapons or other objects. Further cards stand for experience points, illnesses and the eponymous thunder stone. There are also overview cards to keep track of the game while the game is running, and 50 card separators that can be used to organize the remaining cards in the game box.

Course of the game

preparation

Before starting the game, the players choose from three monsters classes with the thunderstone are mixed and a draw pile ( dungeon ) form, from the uncovered the top three cards and laterally next to the dungeon be construed stacks. There is also a village in which four different hero classes can be recruited and twelve different objects and weapons (torches, provisions, daggers, etc.) can be purchased. Illness cards and experience points form further stacks. At the beginning each player receives a draw pile ( command deck ) of 12 cards, which are shuffled face down.

Course of the lap

In each round, each player reveals the top 6 cards of his draw pile and must decide whether to go shopping in the village , fight a monster from the dungeon , or to recover (i.e. destroy a card from his hand). In the village , new cards can be added to the command deck or heroes can be upgraded. At the end of his round, a player always draws 6 new cards in hand. If the command deck is exhausted, the discarded cards of the player are shuffled again, i. In other words, each player always plays with the same set of cards, which he can rearrange in the course of the game by buying or discarding cards.

Playing

If the thunder stone is revealed, the game ends; the winner (usually) is the player who was able to defeat the monster with the most victory points.
