Anton Short
Anton Kurz (born August 4, 1910 in Hagen , † July 17, 1986 in Aachen ) was a German administrative officer and senior city director of the city of Aachen.
Life
Anton Kurz studied law in Munich, Münster, Berlin and Breslau from 1930 to 1933. During this time he became a member of the SA and joined the NSDAP on March 1, 1937 . Before that, he had worked as a trainee lawyer at the Hagen Regional Court from 1934 and was taken on as an associate lawyer there in 1938. From October 1938 to February 1945, Kurz was employed as an advisor to the Reich Commissioner for Price Formation - from February 1941 in the rank of government councilor. In the meantime, he knew from May 1941 to February 1942 his military service as a sergeant in the 78th Infantry Division and received his doctorate in 1943 for Dr. rer. pole. At the same time he was appointed from March 1942 to November 1944 as a councilor in Department III Wi - 6 (pricing and monitoring) of the Reich Ministry for the Occupied Eastern Territories and from June 1944 to December 1944 as a councilor in the Reich Ministry of Economics .
After the Second World War and its classification in Category V by the Hagen Denazification Committee , Kurz entered the public administration service. From 1947 to 1953 he was employed as the city treasurer of Hagen after he had previously joined the CDU . In 1954, Kurz followed a call from the city of Aachen, which appointed him as the successor to Albert Servais as its senior city director. In this position he headed the city administration of Aachen until his retirement in 1975. In the last years of his term of office, Anton Kurz played a major role in bringing about the local reorganization, which was concluded with the Aachen law of 1971.
In addition, from 1960 to 1976, he was chairman of the Landesverkehrsverband Rheinland e. V. and was appointed honorary chairman on the occasion of his departure. His successor in the office of senior city director, Heiner Berger , also succeeded him on the board of the regional transport association.
In 1966, Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant made Anton Kurz Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and invested in Cologne Cathedral on February 22nd, 1966 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
Anton Kurz was married to Marianne, b. Fisherman. The marriage resulted in 5 children. He found his final resting place in the family grave in Aachen's Westfriedhof .
