Ludwig Kuhnen
Ludwig Kuhnen (born November 4, 1876 in Kempen , † November 4, 1955 in Aachen ) was a social democratic politician.
Kuhnen was a member of the Aachen Workers 'and Soldiers' Council during the November Revolution of 1918. As its delegate, he went to the Congress of Workers 'and Soldiers' Councils on December 16, 1918 in Berlin. From 1919 he was a member of the Rhenish Provincial Parliament . Kuhnen was also a city councilor in Aachen. Professionally he was a journalist and after 1918 editor of the social democratic Aachener newspaper "Freie Presse". From October 8, 1920 to December 8, 1932, he held the post of paid aldermen of the city of Aachen. The Belgian military occupation expelled him from Aachen during the turmoil of 1923, and he went into exile in the unoccupied part of Germany.
In 1931 he put himself down in the text "Mask!" critically examines the National Socialist movement and its protagonists (republished in April 1946). In 1933 he was deposed as mayor of Aachen. In 1946 he was Lord Mayor of Aachen . In 1946 and 1947 he was a member of the appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia .
A stadium in the Gillesbachtal in Aachen is named after Ludwig Kuhnen.
