The Thurnerspur is the oldest cross-country skiing center in Germany. The operator, Club Thurnerspur e. V. , was founded on October 6, 1972.

location

The Thurnerspurloipen are on the Thurner Pass ( 1030  m above sea  level ) in the Black Forest . As a hamlet, Thurner is part of the municipality of St. Märgen, approx. 8 km away in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ). The top of the pass, which forms the center of the hamlet, is about 8 km south of the center of the municipality of St. Märgen. The trails start at the top of the pass and run z. T. to the Weißtannenhöhe ( 1190  m ), a mountain between Thurner and Hinterzarten .

Floodlit trail

There are three cross-country trails on the Thurner, a classic route with a length of approx. 15 km, a skating route and a short training loop that is illuminated Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

  • Classic trail (15 km, from the Thurner Pass ( 1030  m ) to the Weißtannenhöhe ( 1190  m ), around the Doldenbühl ( 1098  m )) and back. The difference in altitude is 130 meters, the sum of the ascent is 260 meters. Abbreviations: 5 km and 7 km, connections to Hinterzarten (from Thurner to Hinterzarten: 14 km, altitude difference 145 m), Breitnau , St. Märgen and Waldau , indirectly to Titisee-Neustadt as well as to the Schonach – Belchen long-distance ski trail , which is partly on the classic Route runs.
  • Skating trail (on both sides of the pass, since the 2001/2002 season). The skating trail is 7 km long. Shortly after starting at the Loipenhaus, it separates from the classic track and branches off into the forest. This is followed by alternating longer climbs and descents. The highest point was reached at 1061 m.
  • Floodlit trail (approx. 2.5 km + 1 km extension on the Thurner Pass, illuminated Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.) for classic and skating.

Organization, equipment

The trail house

The Club Thurnerspur e. V. is an association of cross-country skiers based on the Scandinavian and Swiss models for the purpose of self-help. The membership fees are used to maintain the trail. It consists of over 5000 members (as of January 2017).

At the start of the cross-country ski trails there is a heated log cabin with lounge and wax room as well as changing rooms with showers and toilets. There is also a kiosk operated by the Thurnerspur Club.
