Marx Plenty
Marx Reichlich (* around 1460 in Brixen ; † 1520 presumably there) was a South Tyrolean painter of the late Gothic period . He worked mainly in South Tyrol and Tyrol.
Live and act
Marx worked in Salzburg from 1494 to 1508 and it is believed that he was a student of Friedrich Pacher and an employee of Michael Pacher , who had a strong influence on him, worked on the altar of the Salzburg Franciscan Church and continued its workshop. He developed his own color scheme, later also with Venetian and Lombard influences.
In 1508 he restored the frescoes in Runkelstein Castle (South Tyrol). The high altar for Heiligenblut that he started was completed by W. Maller. Around 1500 he made the altar in St. Peter in Salzburg. Today parts are in the Austrian Belvedere Gallery and are privately owned. After 1500, two predelle wings were built in Wilten Abbey with the Adoration of the Shepherds, Adoration of the Kings, Visitation and Anna Selbdritt.
Master of the portrait
Today Marx Reichlich is also identified with the master of the portrait , a painter of this portrait whose name is not known for certain.
