Thy Serpent is a Finnish dark metal band.
history
The band was created as a solo project by guitarist Sami Tenetz, after two demos he signed a contract with the Spinefarm Records label . The album Forest of Witchery was released in 1996, followed a year later by the album Lords of Twilight and another year later Christcrusher . After this release, the band gave eight concerts in Finland on a short tour with Barathrum . After a few line-up changes, the last project was the EP Death in 2000 . Although no more concerts took place after the tour with Barathrum and no further sound carriers were recorded, no breakup of the band was announced.
Music genre
On Into Everlasting Fire Sami Tenetz played atmospheric, black-metal- influenced music in medium tempo with a drum computer , occasional use of an acoustic guitar and frequent use of synthesizers. The music was reminiscent of Burzum and (partly because of the synthesizers) Emperor . Since the lyrics were "dark" but not satanic, the band called their music dark metal and not black metal. Tenetz stated that he found Satanism interesting and largely supported the anti-Christian views of the Black Metallers, but did not follow any of the satanic bands.
