Thyde Monnier

Thyde Monnier , actually Mathilde Monnier (born June 23, 1887 in Marseille ; † January 18, 1967 near Nice ) was a French writer and namesake of the Thyde Monnier de la SGDL Grand Prix, which has been awarded by the Société des gens de lettres since 1975 for a single work .

Life

Thyde Monnier was born the daughter of a banker and attended the Lycée Montgrand in Marseille . She started writing poetry at an early age. As a 19-year-old, she caught the attention of a monument with the performance of her poem Sonett to Mistral .

She was married twice.

In her neonaturalist novels she describes the life of fishermen, farmers, shepherds and craftsmen in Provence .

  4. Original title: L'huile vierge. (1952) Le déjeuner sur l'herbe (1953) and Le retour aux îles (1954). The peculiar German titles with "Öl" are time-related incorrect translations. What is meant is what is now widely used in food law to mean virgin olive oil , i.e. a product from the 1st cold pressing of olives.
