Thymus aznavourii is a plant from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus aznavourii is a small shrub whose flower-bearing stems are 3 to 5 (rarely up to 10) cm long. The leaves are 9 to 10 mm long and 1.7 to 2.0 mm wide. They are leathery, more or less sedentary, obscure-lanceolate, blunt, entire and hairless. The base is ciliate, at the top they are sparsely dotted with glands. The midrib is clearly visible, the side veins are rather inconspicuous.

The inner bracts are about 5 to 7 mm long and 2 to 2.5 mm wide and are egg-shaped. The calyx is 4 to 4.5 mm long and sparsely punctured yellowish glandular. The upper teeth are no longer than 0.5 cm and are not ciliated.

Occurrence

Thymus aznavourii occurs only in the European part of Turkey in Safraköy , near Istanbul .
