Thymus comosus is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus comosus is a small shrub that forms almost upright to prostrate stems that are woody at the base . The flower-bearing stems are 5 to 15 cm long, are occasionally branched and hairy all around. The leaves are up to 17 mm long and 9 mm wide. They are broadly ovate or rhombic-ovoid to almost circular, stalked and provided with clearly pronounced marginal veins. They are hairless or slightly hairy and ciliate at the base.

The inflorescences are up to 7 cm long and head-shaped to cylindrical. The bracts resemble the foliage leaves. The cup is 4 to 5.5 mm long and almost cylindrical in shape. The upper teeth are up to 2 mm long and narrowly lanceolate and ciliate. The crown is 8 to 9 mm long and colored purple.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.

Occurrence

The species occurs in the mountains in the west and central Romania .
