Thymus mastigophorus is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus mastigophorus is a dwarf shrub with woody, creeping stems , from which upright flower-bearing stems with a height of 3 to 7 cm extend and in whose axils there are tufts of deciduous leaves . These are 5 to 7 mm long and 0.5 to 0.7 mm wide. They are linear, almost needle-like, somewhat fleshy, hairless or almost hairless. The leaf margin is rolled back and ciliate.

The inflorescences are head-shaped. The bracts measure up to 8 × 3 mm, are lanceolate-ovate, ciliate and purple. The calyx is 4 to 6 mm long, the calyx tube is almost cylindrical, the upper teeth are narrowly lanceolate and ciliate. The crown is 6 to 7 mm long and colored pink-purple.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.

Occurrence

The species is common in northern and north-central Spain .
