Thymus plasonii is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus plasonii is a small shrub that resembles Thymus atticus , but is generally slightly smaller. It forms woody, arched to prostrate, non-flower-bearing, bristly hairy stems , from which upright to ascending, flower-bearing and hairy stems extend. The flower-bearing stems have, at least at the base, tufts of deciduous leaves similar to the non-flowering stems. The leaves are 8 to 12 mm long and 0.7 to 1 mm wide. They are almost blunt, leathery, hairless and ciliate from the base to above the center of the leaf. The leaf veins are more conspicuous than those of Thymus atticus and run parallel.

The inflorescences are dense heads. The bracts are broadly ovate, narrowed in the middle and are blunt. The largest bracts are about 5 mm long and 2 mm wide. They are leathery, straw-colored and clearly veined, hairless and ciliate. The calyx is 3.5 to 4 mm long and finely haired, the veins are clearly visible. The upper teeth are about 1 to 1.5 cm long and lanceolate. The crown is colored pink, later turns yellow.

Occurrence and locations

The species occurs near Thessaloniki in northeastern Greece .
