Thymus pulcherrimus is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus pulcherrimus is a small shrub that forms long, creeping and somewhat woody, non-flower-bearing stems , on which up to 10 cm long flower-bearing stems, at the base of which are groups of small leaves . The upper leaves on the flower-bearing stems are usually somewhat larger, ovoid to round, stalked and cut off at the base to broadly wedge-shaped. The leaf margin is weakly serrated, in its vicinity a clearly pronounced marginal vein runs from the tip to the base.

The inflorescences are spherical to slightly cylindrical. The bracts resemble the foliage leaves. The calyx is 3.5 to 5 mm long, the corolla tube is almost cylindrical and about as long as the lips. The upper teeth are up to 1.3 mm long and longer than they are wide. The crown is up to 8 (rarely up to 9) mm long.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.

Occurrence and locations

The species occurs in the Carpathian Mountains and extends to the north-central part of the former Czechoslovakia .
