The TiVo Corporation (2016: Rovi Corporation ) is an American company headquartered in San Jose , California . TiVo is listed on the NASDAQ New York Stock Exchange under the symbol TIVO.

The main business area is the production and marketing of solutions for copy protection , digital content licensing and digital rights management ( DRM ).

The branch in Germany is located in Haibach .

history

The company was founded in 1983 as Macrovision Corporation . The name was changed to Rovi Corporation in July 2009. Rovi has the British company C-Dilla (SafeCast), the US companies InstallShield and ZeroG, and in February 2011 the German Nowtilus online sales company ( video-on-demand services; customers include MediaMarkt , Bild.de and Telefónica Germany ).

In 2008, Rovi sold the business software division, which was renamed Acresso. The FLEXnet and InstallShield solutions were included in the sale .

On February 7, 2012, the subsidiary Roxio , which among other things sold software for private users, was sold to Corel .

In 2016, Rovi took over TiVo Inc. After the takeover, Rovi renamed itself TiVo Corporation .
