The Tibetan lady's slipper ( Cypripedium tibeticum ) is a species of the genus Cypripedium in the orchid family (Orchidaceae).

The Tibetan lady's slipper is a perennial plant with a short, thick rhizome that reaches heights of 13 to 35 centimeters. The stem is sometimes hairy only in the upper part, otherwise bald. It usually has three, less often two or four leaves . These are oval, pointed or blunt ended, 8 to 16 × 3 to 9 centimeters in size. The inflorescence consists of only one flower . The bract is oval to broadly lanceolate, 6 to 11 × 2 to 5 centimeters in size, pointed. The flower stalk and ovary are usually not hairy. The tepals are clearly reticulate, drawn dark red on a light background. The lip is dark purple, slightly wrinkled. The staminodium is elongated oval.

Flowering time is from May to August, the leaves are not yet fully developed at the time of flowering.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 20.

Occurrence

The Tibetan lady's slipper occurs in Sikkim, Bhutan and China on meadows, on the edges of coniferous and mixed forests, in scree and on limestone ledges at altitudes of 2300 to 4200 meters.
