Tican

Tican is a group of companies in the meat processing food industry with headquarters in Thisted in Denmark , several slaughterhouses and processing plants in Europe and trading companies in Germany and the People's Republic of China. The product range includes fresh and chilled pork, bacon , ready meals and other processed meat products.

history

Tican emerged from two local pig slaughterhouses, which were founded independently in 1931 in Thisted and Fjerritslev and merged in 1978.

In February 2015, Tican and the largest Danish meat company Danish Crown made their intention to merge public. However, the Danish competition authority prohibited the merger, whereupon the Tican amba cooperative with almost 180 members (as of mid-2015), until then the sole shareholder of the Tican Group, initially announced a framework agreement in early November 2015 for the majority of the shares to be taken over by the largest German pig slaughterer, Tönnies; In December 2015, an agreement was reached on the complete takeover with retroactive effect from October 1, 2015; the approval by the European Commission took place in February 2016.
