The Ticonderoga is a side wheel steamer that operated on Lake Champlain from 1906 to 1953 . Passengers were transported and goods were transported on the line for the Champlain Transportation Company . In the last few years of operation, the Ticonderoga served as an excursion steamer.

After decommissioning in 1953, the ship was not scrapped, but bought by Electra Havemeyer Webb as part of the founding of the Shelburne Museum . The overland transport took place in 1955, since 1964 the Ticonderoga has been listed as the last surviving side-wheel steamer with a balancing machine as a National Historic Landmark .
