The Tierpark Angermünde is an animal park in Angermünde in Brandenburg .

history

The park, founded in 1963, is the only animal park in the Uckermark and also serves as a place for relaxation thanks to its park-like character and adventure playground. With the help of the sponsoring association, the zoo has been further developed for years and was reorganized in 2014.

Location, structure and special features

The park is located a few kilometers south of the city center. It runs west of the federal highway 198 and extends in a wedge shape from north to south widening along the Puschkinallee on a total area of 8  hectares . In the south it is bordered by Sternfelder Straße. Access is via Puschkinallee in the north. About 250 animals in 55 species from all continents of the world can be seen on the site . The enclosures are located in an old park landscape. The permanent animal houses are built in half-timbered style, adapted to the historic old town center of Angermünde. In the northern area there are the eagle owls next to the common marmosets and the peacocks . South of this is the only artistically designed sundial in a zoo in Germany. This is followed by several enclosures in which, for example, guanacos and racket sheep are housed. This is followed by a petting enclosure with pygmy goats and Ouessant sheep to the east . South of this system are a zoo school, a farmyard and a combination stall with lemurs , donkeys and mini-pigs .

As a special feature, the Angermünde zoo is home to all six camel species - dromedary , trampoline , guanaco , llama , alpaca and vicuna .

The traditional festive events take place every year on Easter Sunday and in August. The zoo participates in the European conservation breeding program with the keeping of vicuñas.
