Tiguermine is about 500 people inhabit this village in the rural municipality ( commune rurale ) of Ait Abdallah in the province of Taroudant in the region Souss-Massa in Morocco .
location
Tiguermine is located in the western Anti-Atlas Mountains at an altitude of around 1400 m on the R106. The distance to Tafraoute is just under 50 km in a south-westerly direction; after Igherm it is also about 50 km to the northeast.
population
The population is almost without exception of Berber descent; The regional dialect of Taschelhit is spoken , but Moroccan Arabic is also understood - French, however, hardly.
economy
For centuries people lived on a little self-sufficient farming (barley, beans, onions etc.) on the extremely barren and stony soils; in addition there was cattle breeding (sheep, goats, chickens). After the winter rains subsided or ceased to exist in the 1970s and 1980s, many men looked for work in northern cities or in Europe.
