Life

Tilo Döring joined the SED in 1950 and passed his matriculation examination in Dresden in 1951. After a preliminary internship in various mining companies, he studied mining / civil engineering at the Bergakademie Freiberg from 1952 . In 1957 he obtained the diploma. He stayed at the Bergakademie, initially as a research assistant to Karl Kegel . From 1959 to 1962 he worked at the Institute for Mining and Civil Engineering, after which he became the scientific director of the Freiberg Laboratory for Geomechanics at the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin . In 1963 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD.

In 1966, the Geomechanics Department was integrated into the Freiberg Mining Academy. Tilo Döring became a research assistant at the Institute for Mining and Geomechanics. From 1967 to 1971 he worked as the Rector's scientific secretary. In 1970 he received his habilitation and in 1971 he was a university lecturer for theoretical geomechanics at the Geotechnical Engineering and Mining Section of the Bergakademie, a year later he became a member of the Freiberg SED local leadership. From 1972 to 1976 he headed the geotechnical department. In 1975 he acquired the qualification to teach fluid engineering. From 1976 to 1981 he was deputy director for education, training and further education at his section.

In 1980 Tilo Döring was appointed full professor for rock and rock mechanics. From 1984 to 1991 he was head of the geomechanics science department and geotechnics from 1987 to 1991. In 1991 he was recalled from the Bergakademie, after which he worked in an engineering office. He died in Freiberg in 2001.
